Skincare The Right Way

Skincare The Right Way

My Skin Is Softer, My Standards Are Higher

A skincare piece with attitude. Because aging skin needs love, not war.

Let’s get something straight: I’m not fighting my skin.
I’m not declaring war on wrinkles.
I’m not “fixing” my face like it’s some sort of project.

I’ve spent too many years trying to be smooth, tight, and palatable.
Now? I’m aiming for glowy, juicy, and unbothered.

✦ My Skin Changed and That’s Not a Problem

It’s softer now.
Slower to bounce back, sure. But also richer. More expressive. Full of stories and late-night laughs and beach days I didn’t properly sunscreen for.

I’m not trying to rewind the clock.
I’m trying to take care of the woman who’s lived through everything that made me me.

✦ I’m Not Settling for Products or People

Once upon a time, I thought burning meant it was working.
That a little irritation was worth the promise of younger skin.
That price tags meant performance. That hype meant results.

Now? I read ingredients like they’re poetry.
If it doesn’t nourish, soothe, or spark joy, it’s not going on my face—or in my life.

High-maintenance skin taught me to be low-tolerance with anything that wastes my time.
That includes flaky friends, over-perfumed serums, and cheap promises.

✦ Skincare is My Love Language (To Myself)

The routine is slower now.
More intentional. More luxurious.
And honestly? More pleasurable.

I massage in my moisturizer like I’m tucking myself into bed.
I mist. I pat. I dab on eye cream like I’m casting a spell.
Not because I need fixing but because I deserve to be tended to.

✦ Aging Isn’t a Problem. Neglect Is.

We’ve been told that signs of aging are a crisis.
That we should “fight” them.
That the goal is to erase, erase, erase.

I say the goal is to glow.

To protect your peace. To hydrate your boundaries.
To walk into a room with skin that says “I take damn good care of myself.”

Because I do.

So yes—my skin is softer.
My boundaries are firmer.
And my standards?
Higher than ever.
