Love The Skin You're In

My Skincare Routine Is Slower Now—And So Much Better

Because fast fixes never loved me back.

There was a time when my skincare routine was a rushed blur—
a frantic swipe of something “anti-aging” between errands, work stress, and wiping toothpaste off someone else’s shirt.

Back then, the goal was results.
Now, it’s relationship—with my skin, my breath, and the mirror I no longer dread.

Midlife didn’t just change my skin.
It changed how I treat it.

✦ I Started Touching My Face Like I Meant It

No more aggressive scrubbing.
No more foaming regret or 10-step routines I don’t even like.
Now I press serum into my skin like I’m saying a prayer.

I mist because it feels indulgent.
I massage because it feels kind.
I slow down because this is a conversation, not a chore.

✦ I Got Choosy About What Deserves Me

I used to try every new miracle product like I was chasing youth.
Now? I’m chasing peace. Glow. Simplicity.

That means:

✔ Gentle cleansers
✔ Oils that smell like a walk through a botanical garden
✔ Creams that comfort instead of "correct"
✔ SPF like a protective spell

My standards are higher now.
And my skin? She noticed.

✦ My Nighttime Routine Is a Ritual Now

When the house is quiet and the bra is off (thank god), I head to the mirror with soft lighting and softer hands.

I light a candle.
I pull my hair back like a ceremony.
And I give my face the kind of attention I used to reserve for big events.

Now this is the event.

✦ Aging Didn’t Steal My Glow—Rushing Did

The beauty industry still wants to scare us into fixing, firming, freezing.
But I’ve found that the more love I give my skin, the more she gives back.

She’s not here to look 30.
She’s here to look loved.

And the slower I go, the more she tells me:
“Yes. This. More of this.”

So no, I don’t chase flawless anymore.
I chase lush.
Supple.
Sanctuary.

My skincare routine is slower now—because I finally realized:
I’m worth the time.
